Bristol Wing Fest 2024

How can we not shout out to the festival which shares our name? Bristol Wing Fest 2024 kicked off night with a sizzling mix of competition, creativity, and flavour. Vendors from across the city gathered to showcase their finest wings, duelling for top honours in three coveted categories: Best Wild Wing, Best Buffalo Wing, and Best BBQ Wing. The anticipation was palpable, with both fans and judges ready to crown their favourites.

The wing names were as bold as the flavours, with some taking inspiration from internet sensations, like Ginger Wings’ “Hauk Tuah Spit on That Wing”—a cheeky nod to viral trends. Others brought a pop-culture twist to their dishes, like Poor Boys, who created a clever tribute to The Simpsons with their “Pink Donut Wing,” a fun, flavourful nod to Homer Simpson’s favourite treat.

But Wing Fest wasn’t just about food—it was a festival of experiences. Attendees were treated to live music, rides, axe throwing, and plenty of drinks to wash down the spice. The vibrant atmosphere made it a night to remember, with a perfect mix of fun and flavour.

The real test of endurance came during the main event of the night: The Lava Wing Challenge. Contestants were tasked with devouring wings doused in a sauce registering a scorching 8 million Scoville units (AKA really really really hot). As the heat began to rise, so did the regret. After the first bite, many contestants quickly realized they’d bitten off more than they could chew and bowed out.

Even the unpredictable Bristol weather couldn’t put a damper on the festivities. Despite the clouds, the energy was high, the wings were hot, and the crowd was buzzing. Huge shout out to the vendors, performers, and organizers for making it another unforgettable night!
