With the help of students in UWE’s New Wave Agency, Willow and Ethan were able to share their stories about their experience with our YMCA.
New Wave Agency is a student creative agency which helps to drive equity in professional practice. The students involved often face barriers (such as race, gender, disability, or socioeconomic status) which would otherwise prevent them from accessing these opportunities.
In the beginning of the year, we met with the students to go over our ideas and start putting together a project brief. We wanted to authentically capture Willow and Ethan’s stories and how far they have come.
After meeting with the students involved, it was reassuring to see how passionate and invested they were in this project.
Willow and Ethan both came to the YMCA through our Platform for Life programme, which provides supported housing young people aged 18-24. Platform for Life offers support and guidance to residents to help them on their path to independent living.
