A wonderful day out can be had in Clifton at the Suspension Bridge and Clifton Observatory. The Observatory was established in 1766, offering stunning views overlooking the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge and the City of Bristol – this is the place to grab the best photos. It is open to the public to explore the museum or visit the café.

The Lido – a historic 24m swimming pool and spa located in Clifton, that offers a wonderful heated outdoor pool, sauna and hot tub as well as spa treatments. These Victorian baths originally opened in 1850, and have since had many reincarnations to the current owners who sympathetically refurbished the facility to highlight its history whilst ensuring modern needs are met. The spa has a range of treatments on offer and there is a fabulous café / restaurant on site to ensure your refreshment needs are met.

The Bristol Old Vic and Studio – established in 1946 as the first publicly funded theatre outside London this theatre has long had a reputation for excellence with many significant actors going through their training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, a separate but linked organisation. There is also the studio space that is dedicated to more experimental theatre and innovative performances often showcasing emerging talent. It is always well worth checking out what is going on at this venue or just taking part in one of their tours.

Street Art Trails – there are plenty of self guided walking tours and official in person guides to showcase the likes of Banksy’s work through areas such as Stokes Croft and Bedminster. Bristol street art has a fantastic reputation and we strongly urge you to seek out some of these tours to make the most of what is on offer.
We love the quirky houses of St Werburghs – walk along a street called The Yard to discover a wonderful collection of eco houses that are all unique and have a been designed and built from scratch by their owners. There is also a great community farm and café.

Bristol’s lost river – did you know that Bristol not only has the River Avon running through it but also it has the River Frome running underneath it. Indeed, our very own Bristol Wing Hostel has the river running very closely underneath. The river was diverted many times and through the development of Bristol as a city. It joins the Avon at Bristol’s Floating Harbour.
